I truly feel like it's a hit or miss with this place... are you up for a game of Russian roulette?
Let me start off with the fact that we have always received wonderful customer service. We always order coffee... always and our cups are always kept as close to full as possible.
Being a breakfast, lunch, and dinner restaurant I love the variety you can get. They also have lunch and dinner buffet.
The serving sizes are decent. For why you pay, you get a great amount of food.
But I can't say that with the rest of the other food. I've tried different items off their menus. At times you will get something really good but the next time you are left dissatisfied as angry because you were expecting that great meal you had the previous time.
The food is truly not the worst but the lack of consistence in food taste is just sad.
My usual is a grilled chicken sandwich on chibatta bread. They never have an issue changing the bread for me. They have never gone wrong with that
They also have very cheap burger baskets at the beginning of the week, those are good!!! -

The Copper Grille is an attempt to keep the body and spirit of the Big Boy franchise alive and well. And depending on the day of the week and who is cooking in the kitchen and who is serving in the dining room, there's a decent chance you might experience a flashback to the 80's when there really was a Big Boy restaurant alive and active here in Paw Paw.
And there's a decent chance you won't.
There is no illusion that anything is homemade, just basics from Gordon Food Service or Sherwood or whatever food wholesaler the restaurant is using now, that are combined and heated or steamed or fried and brought to your table. And when I am compelled to eat at a restaurant like that, I order simple things that are hard (but not impossible) to mess up. So I suggest keeping things simple at this type of restaurant.
I don't eat at buffets because serving trays of tepid food that was cooked hours ago doesn't appeal anymore. (Actually, unless there is someone in formal servicewear slicing off slabs of juicy, rare prime rib or cooking crepes to order, I never bother with buffets.) So the salad bar or the breakfast buffet are things I know exist or have existed here but have never looked very appetizing.
Besides locals, travelers on the highway are part of the customer base. There is an advantage for restaurants to being situated so close to the exits off highways. You're hungry, you don't know the area particularly well, the Copper Grille is the first restaurant you see off the exits. A long time ago, a lot of the travelers probably would have headed instead to the Waffle House on the Lawrence exit, about 10 miles west. But the Waffle House died a slow death and is now gone. Five miles or so east of the Paw Paw exit lies the amazing Chinn Chinn, but I suspect its demographic is more upscale than those that eat at the Copper Grille. If a traveler was willing to head past Copper Grille towards town, he would see Red's, a better choice. This drive in with its consistently good service and food is a much better choice, albeit a more adventurous choice, than the Copper Grille. -

It's a nice little restaurant that comes off as homey. Not very big and the menu is a decent length. You can choose to order off the menu or take advantage of the all you can eat soup and salad bar. The food was bland, didn't have much flavor and the breaded seafood at the bar was mostly bread. Not impressed with the quality of food at all. The only thing I can say was excellent was the entire staff, very friendly. However, will not return for another meal.

I know this starts out sounding strange but I have lived in Paw Paw much of my adult life yet had very seldom eaten at this restaurant. Until this month. I have actually done so 4 times in the last two week. A very nice neighbor of ours gave me a very generous gift card for me snow blowing her driveway. So I have had a good cheeseburger, soup and salad bar, fried chicken dinner. Today I had the perch dinner. All good meals. The staff is very nice and friendly and the service is quick.

I went into this place around 3pm on a Thursday.
I was very disappointed in this place. The service was quick and fast but the food left something to desire. I ordered the sirloin with Mashed Potatoes and beef gravy. I also got the soup and salad bar.
I started off at the salad bar it had wilting lettuce and frozen cheese and frozen eggs. I tried to eat some and could not. So next I moved onto the prepared salads. Each one was terrible. The cole slaw, Mac salad, potato salad and tuna Mac was all terrible with a film on top of each one for sitting to long at the salad bar. I couldn't eat these so I went to the soup....bad idea. The tomato basil tasted like tomato purée and the chicken tortilla soup tasted like chicken gravy with cubed chicken.
I was excited when my entree arrived quickly. The mashed potatoes were ok but tasted like powder potatoes the steak was unbelievable it was a chopped steak not sirloin. It was seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning and was very bloody for a medium steak.
I was very disappointed stopping in this place. I would of been happier with a couple roller hot dogs from Speedway across the street.
